Our Chalet Story
We bought this little chalet in spring of 2025, and to be honest, it needed a lot of love and TLC. It was in rough shape and had clearly been waiting for someone to bring it back to life.
Over the course of almost a year, we renovated the chalet almost entirely with our own hands. Hernan, the owner, spent countless hours doing the hands-on work from repairs and construction to the many little details that slowly transformed the space into the cozy home it is today. It was a labor of love, and every room carries a little piece of that journey.
We also wanted to preserve the character and soul of the original chalet style rather than make it feel like a brand-new rental. Many of the furnishings and objects you’ll find here come from our own family home. Some pieces belonged to our children and were part of our family life for many years—our kids’ dishes, plates, cups, and even their highchair found a new home here.
So, while everything has been carefully put together to make your stay comfortable, you’ll also find little reminders of our family throughout the chalet. We love that these familiar pieces have a second life here and that they help make the chalet feel like a real home rather than simply a vacation rental.
Nearly everything you see was either renovated, repurposed, carried in, or put together by us. It took a lot of time, hard work, and a fair amount of patience—but we hope you can feel the care that went into it.
Our journey with the chalet isn’t over. While we’ve accomplished so much already, we still have many ideas and improvements we’d love to make. We had to pause some of our plans to rebuild our resources, but this little chalet continues to be a work in progress. We’re excited about what’s still to come and look forward to adding even more thoughtful touches over the years while preserving the charm that made us fall in love with it.

Natural Elements Inside and Out
When we began restoring and renovating the property, we wanted to preserve that connection to nature. Rather than bringing everything in from somewhere else, we looked to the land around us for inspiration—and, in some cases, for the materials themselves.
Branches and trunks from trees found on the property were thoughtfully repurposed into pieces throughout the chalet, including rustic side tables and console tables. What might otherwise have been left behind became part of the home, giving these pieces a second life while keeping a little piece of the mountain indoors.
You’ll find touches like these throughout the chalet: natural wood, organic textures, and handcrafted details that celebrate the landscape surrounding us. Each piece has its own shape, grain, and imperfections—reminders that this home is part of a living, beautiful place.
Our goal was never to create something overly polished or disconnected from its surroundings. We wanted the chalet to feel warm, authentic, and timeless—a place where the comfort of a beautiful home meets the wild spirit of the Smoky Mountains.
A stay here is an invitation to slow down, reconnect with nature, and experience a little bit of the mountain through the home we’ve created.
